Have you realized how much communication has changed since we've been born? I can't imagine back in the day when I had to send a letter or maybe get ahold of them on their home phone anymore. We haven't even had a home phone for about 5 years because the only people who call is telemarketers. The only time I can't stand not having a home phone is when I lose my cell phone at home because I have no way of calling it, if I'm home alone.
Another thing is texting, I can't imagine what I'd do without texting. That sounds horrible but that's honestly how it is for a lot of people now. The longest conversations I will hold on the phone now days is 10 minutes if i have a lot to say but I can text the same person all day because you can build on the conversation. I also love texting because if someone who texts me that I don't want to talk to it's as simple as I don't respond. When someone calls, they expect a call back so if i don't call them back they get offended or something. Texting is also so much more convenient because if i'm working or at school I can text people if i need to talk to them but i can't call them in the middle because it's not aloud.
I can admit there is pros and cons of texting but where is there not pros and cons of anything? The pros are a faster way of communication, short and to the point, and you don't have to always respond to someone if you don't really want to. Cons are you can't always tell exactly what they mean by their text with all the sarcasm these days. You never know someone's mood when your texting them because it's the easiest thing to lie through a text and that's definitely a con.
I sometimes wonder what it would be like to go back to the days where there wasn't even a telephone. Where the only things you knew were from letters and from when you talked to people face to face. Not as much drama would get started from people making things up and telling others about "what they thought they heard". I think life would be easier to live not always knowing exactly what was going on with everyone at the exact moment that it's going on.
So build me a time machine and take me back to those days. Take me back to when life was more simple and leave me there! I don't know about you but I know i couldn't live without my cell phone now but I would do anything to make them all disappear so it wasn't one of the main ways of communication even though i love texting, it is extremely overrated.
People shouldn't break up over text messaging or lose a friendship from one text that someone read the wrong way. They should talk things out face to face and then misconceptions like that wouldn't happen. You might not think that not having texting would solve a lot of social issues but I really think that it would.
Don't you agree?
It is crazy to think that in our lifetime communication between two different people is completely diffferent then when we were little kids. if you think thats crazy, think how it will be ten years from now.
