Communication

Have you realized how much communication has changed since we've been born? I can't imagine back in the day when I had to send a letter or maybe get ahold of them on their home phone anymore. We haven't even had a home phone for about 5 years because the only people who call is telemarketers. The only time I can't stand not having a home phone is when I lose my cell phone at home because I have no way of calling it, if I'm home alone.

Another thing is texting, I can't imagine what I'd do without texting. That sounds horrible but that's honestly how it is for a lot of people now. The longest conversations I will hold on the phone now days is 10 minutes if i have a lot to say but I can text the same person all day because you can build on the conversation. I also love texting because if someone who texts me that I don't want to talk to it's as simple as I don't respond. When someone calls, they expect a call back so if i don't call them back they get offended or something. Texting is also so much more convenient because if i'm working or at school I can text people if i need to talk to them but i can't call them in the middle because it's not aloud.

I can admit there is pros and cons of texting but where is there not pros and cons of anything? The pros are a faster way of communication, short and to the point, and you don't have to always respond to someone if you don't really want to. Cons are you can't always tell exactly what they mean by their text with all the sarcasm these days. You never know someone's mood when your texting them because it's the easiest thing to lie through a text and that's definitely a con.

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to go back to the days where there wasn't even a telephone. Where the only things you knew were from letters and from when you talked to people face to face. Not as much drama would get started from people making things up and telling others about "what they thought they heard". I think life would be easier to live not always knowing exactly what was going on with everyone at the exact moment that it's going on.

So build me a time machine and take me back to those days. Take me back to when life was more simple and leave me there! I don't know about you but I know i couldn't live without my cell phone now but I would do anything to make them all disappear so it wasn't one of the main ways of communication even though i love texting, it is extremely overrated.

People shouldn't break up over text messaging or lose a friendship from one text that someone read the wrong way. They should talk things out face to face and then misconceptions like that wouldn't happen. You might not think that not having texting would solve a lot of social issues but I really think that it would.

Don't you agree?

Ghostly Holidays

For the past three nights I’ve jumped out of bed, wide awake, at 2:30 A.M. I stayed in bed each night after waking up because I think staying in my room is always the safest thing to do, like my door is some amazing shield or something. Every time I wake up I never hear sounds that would cause me any restlessness because my house makes a lot of different noises; having five animals, the house not being the newest, and with myself just being paranoid. On the fourth night, I decided to set my alarm for 2:25 A.M. to see if I could catch what kept keeping me awake, alarms aren’t the easiest thing to wake me up so we’ll see how this goes.
It was around 10:30 P.M, on the fourth night, when I set my alarm for 2:30 A.M to see if I could figure out what was freaking me out every night for too many nights. I screamed, “Night Mom, Love you,” back to her room before I shut my door to go to sleep.
I procrastinated, like always, because I was a little anxious to see what I was going to find if I woke up to my alarm when it was time. I sat on Facebook for probably an hour, watched the best show ever called The Defenders, and got a big glass of milk. With all this I most likely went to bed around midnight which is pretty normal for me. I woke up not to a loud, annoying beeping of an alarm but to my mom saying, “Lindsey, it’s time to get up for school!”
I responded half dead, “What time is it?”
“It’s 6:45 A.M, get up!” She shouted back.
I was very confused that I didn’t wake up a) to my alarm at 2:25 A.M and b) at 2:30 A.M from the randomness that’s been waking me up for the past couple days. I didn’t think much of it because I figured hey, maybe the stupid sound interrupting my precious sleeping stopped, YIPPY!
By the time I got to school the entire thing had slipped my mind because I’m not one to worry. Then Tracy just had to bring it up saying, “Lindsey, did you figure out what’s messing with you at night?”
In annoyance I said, “Tracy shut up! You would bring that up just for the simple fact I just forgot about it.”
We talked about my night before while sitting in Ms. Bridges English 11 class because we never do much of anything in there. She then brings up, “Oh, have you seen the commercials for the new Paranormal Activity, the third one?”
I replied, “Really, you would scare me with that wouldn’t you?”
She laughed and said, “Well in the previews it shows this family where it’s just a mother and a daughter, like you and your mom, the ghost is messing with only the daughter at first. Has your mom said anything to you about anything weird?”
I replied astonished, “Umm are you kidding me? But no she hasn’t said anything so I doubt she really has. Dude, do you think we are really being haunted?”
Tracy started laughing hysterically and said, “There isn’t even a Paranormal Activity 3 out yet stupid but I have to admit I got you good. Hahaha!”
I didn’t think it was all that funny because obviously now stuck in the back of my head is that I’m going to be the next victim from those movies. I don’t want watch movies or shows like Paranormal Activity or Ghost Hunters because let’s face it, that stuff scares me just a little bit too much. I have seen the commercials for both the Paranormal Activity movies’ previews and it never looked like it ended up in a very pleasant way.
After school that day I didn’t go home at all because I didn’t want to be home by myself. I went tanning and then went and hung out with a few friends because that’s just what I do when I don’t have to work. They all thought I was crazy because “those movies are so fake,” and “those movies aren’t even scary anyways!”
Well all I know is they might not be scared when they are watching things like that but what if it was happening to you? I’m pretty sure you would be shaking in your moccasins just a little bit.
I went home a little after 7 P.M when my mom called and told me she was on her way home from Curves. Let’s face it, I’m not one of those people who thinks my house is haunted or do I believe in evil ghosts but man was this freaky, or well I thought. My mom and I ate dinner, watched Burnt Notice and a couple other shows while sitting around lazily on the cough for a little while. I know I know, we have a very exciting life. Do you think I should put up video cameras? See I thought this too because that’s what they did in Paranormal Activity but I think whatever it is knew I set my alarm clock and was waiting to see it, and that’s exactly why nothing mysteriously woke me up in the middle of the night.
It was about that time to go to bed because stressing about being haunted takes a lot of energy, let me tell you! It was tough for a couple minutes to get myself to sleep but since I was so exhausted it didn’t take but 10 minutes to be peacefully sleeping. Once again, terrifyingly I suddenly woke up at 2:30 A.M exactly… Ironic right? I didn’t set my alarm and this time I wake up again. This time will be different than last because my door will not be the key guard on my cell phone because this time I’m walking out of my room to see what might be happening.
Little did I know I would find my mom up and wide awake in the kitchen feeding this odd man milk and cookies.
It makes sense that I didn’t get woken up by weird noises, on the fourth night, since I told my mom I was going to set my alarm at 2:25 A.M because I thought something was suspicious. I got closer and said, “Mom, what are you really doing at 2:30 in the morning with some random dude?”
She replied, “Lindsey honey, this guy isn’t random,” as he turns around so I could see his face…
          It’s Santa Clause!
“I caught you flirting with Santa Clause? Mom what are you thinking? What about dad?” Not really giving her time to respond because I’m a really fast thinker I chuckled and continued, “Oh yeah, that’s right you and dad are divorced. I’m going back to bed, night!”
I decided my mom having a little thing with Santa Clause wasn’t that bad because I wasn’t being haunted, which lifted a huge weight of my shoulders. And hey, Christmas is right around the corner so might as well let my mom help me out a little this holiday season!

Ohio State Fans!

I thought this title would be appropriate for the week because of the Ohio state vs. Michigan game coming up and everything, and with me being a Michigan fan and everything I thought most of you would enjoy this.

The only thing i hate about OSU fans is they talk so much trash about Michigan and their fans for no reason at all. I understand the rivalry and everything, and i can't deny i do as well talk trash sometimes but OSU fans take it to the next level. Sometimes they take it too far. I understand you guys have beat Michigan State, Indiana, and Iowa.... and i know Michigan didn't, you don't have to tell me. I do know what goes on in the football world. You always act like Michigan is so horrible when look at reality. Michigan lost to Iowa by 7 more points than you did, do you really think it's that big of a difference?

I do give Ohio State their props for the season, for sure though. I'm not saying I don't because Ohio State has had a very good season minus the Wisconsin game and I respect them for that. Why is that I respect your guys' record but you guys act like Michigan is 1-10 for the season and if you didn't know, they aren't.

All I think is Ohio State is going to think they are going into the game with a definite win and I honestly don't think that is the case. If you look at the differences of the scores, from the same teams OSU and UofM have played, they aren't really that much different. Michigan i admit doesn't have the best defensive team this year but they are not one of those teams you're going to beat without a fight.

I guess time will tell and Saturday we will know where this rivalry is going this year because Michigan is going to win. And if they don't pull it off this year, which there is no questions about because they will, we will for sure get you next year so you know:) Good day!

USMC.

The only reason my title is USMC is because that's what the shirt i'm wearing says. No i'm not joining the military or any of that good stuff because honestly I'm probably too much of a baby for any of that. I know I could get through all that training and stuff but when I would actually have to be in war or anything like that I think i would panic and go A-wall.

I've decided I don't like this whole 'indian summer' thing because even though it is nice outside, it's not helping me getting sick at all. I've had strep, the flu, and was getting the first stage to pneumonia all in like a month. Keep in mind i've never had the flu or anything close to pneumonia so it's been pretty overwhelming. I just need the weather to get cold and stay cold so my body is confusing itself. My mom is also going to buy me gummie vitamins so i can build up my immune system, and since I don't drink orange juice that much she's going to get me Vitamin C pills too. I'm pretty excited I'm not going to lie.

It's really hard to drag myself to school each morning, on top of being sick. I'm graduating half-year which makes it even harder because right now it's like you being in 4th quarter dreading coming to school. I have only 32 days, which is 768 hours which is equivilant to 46080 minutes. If you think about it that's not that much time at all. This actually makes it harder to come to school, not easier so don't let it fool you. When you are in the 4th quarter and just can't wait for summer, let me know how easy it is for you to come to school. You might think it's gonna be pretty easy but who are you kidding? Not me because I'm going through it right now.... hardest thing ever!!!

Well, that's all.

Carmex: Moisturizing Lip Balm

I'm a little late on my blog this week, for some reason if i don't get it done before the weekend it just doesn't get done on time. That's usually why i try to get them done by thursday because then it is already in the clear. Hince, the reason i still think these blogs should be due on monday.

You are probably wondering why my title is about Carmex. For all of you who don't know what carmex is it's pretty much the best lip balm ever made. It works wonders or as they say, "It Soothes. It Heals. It Protects." If you use any other kind of lip balm you are just really missing out on real chap stick because carmex is the only one that works this good. You could wake up with lips dryer than a desssert and by the end of the day they will look and feel like the ocean, just not blue. The only other chap stick I think might be even close to carmex is that aquafina chapstick. Has anyone tried it? If so, does it work wonders also? I just thought I should let everyone know my opinion of the best lip balm because  it is getting colder and I've had to use chap stick more often so thought i'd share my ways with you!

Classes are so short today and it makes me actually not hate my monday. I think we should have shortened mondays every monday because mondays wouldn't be so bad. There are so many schools I've heard of that have early release or late arrival once a week, I don't understand why we don't do the same. That would probably make the entire week start of better if you ask me. Have you ever realized that if the first day of your week starts off bad the rest of the week is probably just going to follow that same routine? Well, if we had short days on mondays the entire week would run more smoothly. Maybe not but it's a thought.

I'm very excited for this weekend coming up because I'm going to Akron on friday. I haven't been out of Columbus in a while and it's time for a change. I get so sick of all the same people all the time, change for a night should be great. Especially because it is just going to be too much fun... a little mini road trip and the night out of columbus, what more can i ask for?

I don't like that the time changed saturday night because now it gets dark out at 6 p.m. It makes me want to go to bed because it's so dark by 7 but I usually work until 10 or 11 anyways so that's never going to work out. Sometimes I just think we should not spring forward or fall back ever. Is it really going to be that much of a difference? I don't really think it would but what do i know.

Ms. Bridges english class is watching the Crucible Movie and i loved this movie last year so i'm going to watch the movie too because it's just a lot more interesting then me telling you about my life.
